2012/365 - Day 216

Thoughts With Thread at the Northville Art House

The yarn bombing of the Northville Art House, the volunteer stuff I was doing this week, shadowing Joan -- all of that was leading up to tonight's Opening Reception of "Thoughts With Thread" a juried fiber exhibition.

The show runs through August 25 and features all sorts of fiber arts...art quilts, woven tapestries, embroidery, paper, baskets, felted wool and figurative work.  It is the kind of work you try to describe and photograph but you really can't fully capture all the incredible work unless you see the pieces in person.

I needed to leave early, but there was already quite a good turn out -- even with the other First Friday festivities and road construction.

There is a LOT going on in Northville this weekend!

First Place went to Jan Waller and her incredible "School of Thought".

I love the movement and colors and techniques and textures...I love the girl's hair and expressive eyes...I love the way the fish are swimming around and around like thoughts.  This is such a fabulous piece.

GOOD JOB, Joan!  Another wonderful exhibition in the upper gallery at the Northville Art House!
