2012/365 - Day 201

I just can't do anymore tonight

Look at how big the wound up rope ball is!  Look how little of the skein of yarn is left!  But I just can't do anymore tonight.  I just can't.  My arm is killing me, I'm getting cricks in my necks...I will finish it tomorrow -- I know I will!  And I will find eyes for the yarn snake and figure out his face.  I can't wait to measure this rope and see how long it is!

2012/365 - Day 200

wow -- day 200!

It is a little hard to believe it is the 200th day of the year already...where does the time go?

This morning was another delightful Wednesday Morning at Joan's with Leann and Joan and Scout with guest appearances by Alex (and a friend of Alex's whose name I can't recall) and Ben.

Here is how it looked at Joan's kitchen table this morning...busy busy hands!

Later...back in my studio...

Scarf + floaty swimming pool bopper thing =...

... = snake!

The scarf was generously donated to the project by Ruth.

I already had an extra floaty swimming pool bopper thing.

I was really having trouble finding something to make his head with that could stand up to the elements but not get soaked and pull through the yarn.  I found some plastic containers in my plaster cloth supplies stash.

Now I need to figure out his face.

I think his eyes need to be about the size of a cat toy ball.

Joan took some of the yarn from this skein for some pieces for the project she was working on but there is still about a quarter of the skein left to go.  I am determined to finish it off tonight -- considering I have done ALL of the beginning of this rope today!  It is incredibly long already but I haven't measured it...we stretched it from Joan's table this morning.  I will measure it when it is done.

2012/365 - Day 199

posting early (and quickly) today

It is incredibly hot today.  I am worried about losing the electricity tonight and I wanted to post this while I can.  I am also about to take a dose of Benadryl...enough said.

Today I completed these three yarn ropes.

I made the rose colored one on the Embellish-Knit! gadget.  It works wonderfully with the sample yarn included in the kit.  I need to look into getting more eventually.  This rope is about 2 and a half feet long.

The green rope was made on the 5-peg end of the spool loom.  It is made from a very small remnant ball that Joan had leftover from something.  It is almost five feet long.  The yarn is really soft and felt good to work with -- it is also very thick and made the rope puffy...that is why it looks bigger than the multicolored rope below it.

That multicolored rope is made with the chartreuse/purple/blue blend of thread-like cotton yarn and was made using the 5-peg end of the spool loom. This rope is a little over 12 feet long and I finished it this morning making the last 4 feet of it.

Next I am going to make a 5-peg rope with the bright red yarn that I made the scarfy thing with.  I may also make another 8-peg rope with the red yarn...I don't know yet.

There are continuous mini "surge" sounds happening today -- fingers crossed we keep the electricity!!!

And on a side note, I became pretty disillusioned with the first cat rescue place and I decided to let them go.  Last night I found another cat rescue with several black cats and I put in an application for two in particular.  I have in mind to only adopt one new cat...but if all goes well -- and the opportunity presents itself -- I may end up with two.  Keep thinking good thoughts!
