another lovely Wednesday Morning
I really love Wednesday Mornings with Joan and Leann! (satisfied sigh)
I started out by trying to figure out a way to paint little dots. I tried the ends of a couple of paint brushes, the eraser end of a pencil, a broken in half cotton swab, and a spongey sort of paint brush. I think it is just going to come down to doing it very very slowly and totally concentrating on each dot -- like meditation or something.
After that I moved on to carving little stamps that I may be able to use on a different plaster cloth guy. I had been considering doing this, but because Leann was carving stamps (an alphabet) I had to copy her and work on the carving.
All too quickly it was time for Joan and Leann to go on about their days and I left my materials on the table so I could come back to work on the carvings some more. Funny thing is...I went back to it about a half hour after they left and I am just NOW "done" (5:15 p.m.)...where does the time go???
I don't know how many of these carvings will be useful on the plaster cloth guy, but they will be useful overall.

2012/365 - Day 79
going into sneak peek mode
Now that I know this will be one of my submissions for an upcoming show I am going to only do sneak peek shots of it until I hear whether or not it gets juried in. I am not holding my breath on any of the three pieces I will be entering, but I am having a really great time with these canvases.
And when I don't get anything in, there will always be next year to aim for!
I played a little bit in my photo program to see if I could get an idea of what I had in my head onto the canvas and see how it might turn out.

This is just a badly doctored blurry photo. I will be working on the real thing this afternoon. The colors will be better in person and also not so dotty looking (I hope).

2012/365 - Day 42 part two
a planning stages and trying things out kinda morning

The saw and a section of wood were calling me this morning.

And I still feel mildly hellbent to do something with this guy, but what?
another monster -- with nubby horns to match his bumps?

and legs?

no horns, skirt and legs?

remove a bump to even him out

Better...this is better...but not quite "it".

Hey -- my sister spied this guy on the "about to toss them out shelf" on Thursday but I've never really been happy with him before...how about him?

Okay...start from scratch.
This is how he looks. He was from the same batch of ten paper tube, papier mache box and wooden plaque guys I made a couple of years ago. I was just starting with the plaster cloth and tried to make him look like he had fluffy wool or something.

I have one more pair of eyes that are painted already...and just the right size.

legs...

arms...wooden shapes, a block and a ball

Not bad...but I think I like the pill bottle arms better.
I can maybe add to his torso area and also give him hips or something to fill out the area between the bottom of the plaque and the legs.
I am going to leave this for now, go get Ruth and run our errands and maybe come back here and visit with Ruth some more...and be thinking about it throughout the day...maybe get some feedback from Ruth...I will come back to it later tonight.
