2015 | Day 118

Day One Hundred Eighteen

I am going to try to get back into the blog-post-a-day thing...starting today.  I won't beat myself up about if it doesn't happen again or when I miss a day...but I am going to make an effort to try.

Today my good friend Terri came over to shoot some of my 3D artwork...my plaster cloth guys and a soft doll.  These will be used on the website Terri is building for me.

Before Terri arrived I did a little bit of prep work.  I brought out all of the plaster cloth guys and one of my soft sculpture dolls.  I had to also vacuum several of them to get the dust off.  Then I sketched out the idea I had for the photo of me for the "about me" page of the new website.  In addition, I cleared out a makeshift photo studio area for Terri to work in...this involved taking down some artwork from the walls in a corner of the kitchen and clearing off the big marble top table so we could move it out of the way...MAN, that marble is heavy!!!

Bringing out the artwork to be photographed today...and vacuuming it all to lose the dust.

Terri and I had a good time, brainstormed some basic ideas, shared a delicious pizza (with eggplant), had some great conversation/catching up time...and when I let the cats come out of the bedroom when we were all done and the kitchen was put back together, Bootsy performed on the cat exercise wheel so Terri could see it in person.  Oh...and Terri is storing  some of her artwork in my basement for a bit...we set up a table for her in the basement. All in all, it was a very good day!

2015 | Day 25

Day Twenty-Five

Today Terri and I got the auction items from the Group of Girls 2 show online at the Woods Gallery Facebook page.  Terri took photos of the artwork and I measured and recorded the pertinent information, then we came back to my house and worked on it together.

Then Terri took hi-res, color-corrected photos of three paintings by Juana that are in my collection.  Juana needs good photos of them so she can get prints made and use the images later on for other items.

Terri set up a little staging area in my guest bathroom (good natural light from the skylight and north window) and took photos for Juana.

And THEN Terri started photographing some of my artwork to use on the website I hired her to set up for me.  Wow -- I am giddy thinking about it.  Today we secured my domain name and chose a template for the website.  Terri will work on some of the elements at home and we will meet up again soon to go over what she's got so far.  I can't believe I am becoming a dot com.

Then Terri started the first round of photos of my artwork for my upcoming website.

Thank You, Terri!!!

Day 340 - 364/2014

Day Three Hundred Forty

Tonight's blog post is being made possible by my friend Terri Light.  She is at Mike Kelly's "It Came from the Gutter 2 -- Bowling Pin Art Show" at the Garden Bowl in the Majestic Complex in Detroit.  It looks like she is having a blast, too!  The show runs through December 21 (I hope to visit it next Friday with Peggy.)  I swiped a bunch of Terri's photos from Facebook to share...here they are:

Day 254 - 365/2014

Day Two Hundred Fifty-Two

I am a bit overwhelmed today by two incredible things that happened.  Luckily, my good friend Terri came over tonight.  Terri provided me much appreciated temporary distraction from my overthinking of things.

We both had artwork in the recent Detroit Artists Market Show If You Build It, They Will Come.  Alas, neither of our pieces sold during the show and since Terri lives not far from DAM, she offered to pick up Woodlee for me as well as the wonderful piece I purchased from the show.

Woodlee is back home again!

Then and Now... by Sanda Cook.  I love this piece!

I also recently snatched up a few of Terri's delightful Mystery Acumen Oracle collages from her Etsy store The Farrago Factory.  Terri brought them with her tonight, too!  I just love all of them -- it was really hard to choose only four.  You really must visit her store via the link and grab a couple for yourself before they are all gone!

My four new Terri Light Mystery Acumen Oracle collages!  I will find the perfect spot for the group of them ASAP!

Then we went to dinner at Tuscan Cafe and talked and talked and talked and caught up on each others' news and talked and talked and talked.  Then we came back to my house so that Terri could tell me the materials she needed me to email to her so that she can make the labels and placard for me for the latest edition of my Animal People for Art-o-mat.  This has been the major thing that has been holding me up on sending them in to HQ.  I don't have the program I used to use to make my own labels and I just do not have the computer/design chops that Terri does.  She offered to do this for me and I finally said "yes, please" and now I can get back to doing the finishing touches on the collages and get them ready for their labels.  Thank You SOOOOOOO much, Terri!  (Terri promised that she would tell me when I can return the favor and help her with something that comes easily to me but hard for her.)

Day 207 - 365/2014

Day Two Hundred Seven

I have the weekend "off" from staying with my sister (and her broken leg) but I am taking some personal time today/tonight...catching up on household chores (that I am actually enjoying doing), making a soup base from the chicken from last night...stuff like that.  I feel like I am accomplishing much.  Plus, my allergies are going absolutely crazy.

So...in the meantime...take a look a my friend Terri Light's super cool mini collages at her Etsy store as well as her Instagram photos and one of her blogs...and...have a look at one of my most favorite of Terri's collages "Great Great Aunt Lydia and Maxine du Mouseier".

365/2013 - Day 325

incredible show at Woods Gallery

Tonight Sue and I went to the opening reception for "Awake & Dreaming" -- a show featuring the photography of Ralph Jones and the mixed media collage of Terri Light.  Wow.  What a fabulous show!  Incredible work from two incredible artists.  I just don't have words for it.  Take a look at the Woods Gallery website.

365/2013 - Day 276 -- updated!

photos at last!

I finally whittle down the number of photographs that my friend Terri Light shot at the opening reception for "Under the (Inspired) Influence" to these "few".   I wanted to give a sense of the interactions with artists and viewers, and show the artwork.  Thank You so much, Terri, for the fantastic photos!!!

My Facebook photo album for the exhibit.
