365/2013 - Day 343

slight changes

Well, my furnace guy's guy came today and we thought things were fixed but then when he checked one last time, the condensation collector pump thing was leaking again so I do need a new one and he did not have one on the truck, so he has to come back again tomorrow.  I have heat (I was never w/o heat), the humidifiers(s) are finally on, but the water is still leaking onto the floor by the furnace.

The other slight changes are with the goat guy collage.  I decided to switch Hershey with my GBF (goat boyfriend whose name I still don't remember).  I printed out the photo I took, fooled around with the color and size and printed out a couple of black and white "head shots" that I cut out and was thinking of collaging onto the board...but I wasn't happy with the b+w copies so I went back to the color and tried using carbon paper to transfer an image of sorts.  I don't hate the results, I am just not sure I will go with this version because I am not very confident with shading and painting and coloring.  We'll have to wait and see how things unfold.

How the collage looked when I started out today...Hershey.
Hershey erased...but you can still see a little bit of him...plus the original image that is coming through the papers that put me in mind of a goat.
The altered photo of my goat boyfriend.
Trying to get an image transfer.
Carbon paper tracing.
The result.  This needs a lot of work, plus I think he needs horns.  My GBF doesn't have horns.
Hershey is a great goat, but my GBF is definitely more photogenic and handsome.  But then again my GBF is a pure-bred goat who is used for breeding.  I don't remember what kind of goat he is...maybe I will look it up.

365/2013 - Day 138

whew -- this is about as good as either of these projects will get today

Well, I wrestled with the sander and the shelves...I am not very happy with them right now but I also can't mess with them anymore today.  At least I sanded all ten of them...most need touch up painting.  The shelves just aren't coming out the way I pictured them.

I have been tweaking this goat-ish collage for most of the evening.  I have never been able to draw a reasonably convincing goat face.  Then I thought about using a photo from the internet and trying to trace it and incorporate it.  But the more I looked at the Google'd photos, the more I remembered I have a bunch of photos of goats that I actually took -- Sue's friend's goats, Colin (the handsome goat at Kensington Metropark), and Hershey (the goat I sponsored at SASHA Farms).  Huh.  My photos are not at wonderful as some of the photos I found, but I can try to alter them in my photo program and work with them.  Again...this is about as good as this is going to get...tonight anyway.

the cropped and altered Hershey head photo
two versions of the further altered photo -- plus penciling the back of the cut out head to try and leave a mark on the canvas
right about here -- not quite the exact right size but maybe I can make it work
Hershey's horns showed up a bit -- I left out the notch he has in one of  his horns
first try
tweaked collage image of a goat-ish guy -- it's a start, I guess

365 Day 260

thinking about changing directions...
There are way too many reasons why I am never going to be able to have my own real-life goat.

I really really LOVE goats, though.

photos from two SASHA Farm visits, one in 2009 and one in 2008

But after looking across the room at this plaster cloth guy all last night and now for most of the day today, I think maybe I could change directions with him and go from Ibizan hound-like creature to goat-like creature.
Maybe.

This is the first stab at making the changes. This is probably going to take a while and there will be many alterations but I am relatively optimistic about this turning out pretty well. I just need to take some time with it.

I also need to be patient and accept the basic structure that is already there...work with what I have to work with.

The former ears for the sighthound will determine the horns for the goatish guy...but I can move the direction and change the size of the horns.

I can also reposition the ears and make them different.

Oh that handsome chappy, Hershey!

I really love goats!

Off to a "not-so-bad-for-the-first-draft" try.

Maybe this plaster cloth goat-like guy can be my Capricorn boyfriend...LOL.

Goat Day!

Today was Goat Sponsors Day at SASHA Farm. I sponsor a very charismatic goat named Hershey. He is the one who is standing taller than the others.

Man, I love goats!

Day One Hundred Ten

Ooooh it's a gloriously lovely rainy day...and you know what that means! ART ABOUNDS!!! Yay!

Mr. W. is a guy I started before and abandoned because he just wasn't working out. Inspired this morning by my rainy day, I revisited him. I think he works pretty well now. And the bottom edge where your finger goes in...oooooh, so soft!

What can I say, Mr. W. was a posing fool. I chose his best two shots to share with you.

Here he is doing his impression of a Kill Taupe bunny and also "disguising" himself as a refrigerator magnet. This guy is pretty playful.

This is a finger puppet for my Art-o-mat® series "All Ears".

tee hee...I snuck in that picture of "my" goat Hershey...I sponsor him at SASHA Farm.
