2012/365 - Day 136

another day of slacking off

I'm about 80% back to "normal" now with the mouth/dental thing.  Today though, my allergies and sinuses have been just pounding and totally kicking my butt.  I am taking one more day easy and then I am going to push myself.

Today I made two more origami  boxes.  These two are made with paper that I printed with a eraser I carved in a two-part color printing process at the ATC group after a demo.  I didn't realize I would be making more of these cool paper boxes...they really are great for a whole lot of uses.  I still need to make two more.  I guess I need to buy some origami paper of my own.

I am not usually a big fan of origami per se, but I really really love these boxes!  Thanks again, Jane, for showing us how to make them.

2012/365 - Day 132

one more box

I need to admit (to myself) that I do not feel well -- my mouth problems are still pretty intense.  It is like every single nerve ending and pain receptor from my shoulders to the top of my head are fully awake and throbbing.

Needless to say, I am in no kind of mood or shape to work on anything seriously...but I could use a little something to divert my attention for a bit.  I decided to try and see if I could make another origami box like the ones in Jane's demo at the ATC meeting on Wednesday night.

I started my mini project by stamping some of my carved clouds onto a sheet of paper.

I cut out a couple of masks and stamped more clouds.

There...cloudy paper.

Then I took this cloudy sheet and one plain sheet out to the paper cutter to cut them into a square shape.

Then I brought the paper back to my desk to start the folding.

(I like "real" origami paper much better.)

Much to my surprise,  I remembered how to do it!

Voila -- another little origami box!

Now I have a set of three boxes.

I think I'd like to stamp onto plain "real" origami sheets next time.

2012/365 - Day 130

trading artist trading cards and making an origami box (or two)

Tonight was the May meeting of the ATC Exchange MI group.  This month's theme was "In the style of...".  The activity for the evening was a delightful demonstration by the delightful Jane Meixner of making little origami boxes.

The terrific cards I got in exchange!

Boxes made by Jane.

LOOK -- I DID it!!!

I even made a second box!

These are really cool little boxes and this is a handy skill to know...good for lots of purposes!

And now...a demonstration of a flying crane by Leann Meixner:
