365 Day 65

why does someone who dislikes painting so much choose to make things that need to be painted?

Okay. I have done about all that I can do -- for now. I am going to take the photos and submit them for consideration into the toy-themed show. I will need to tweak the painting to clean up lines and possibly add clouds to the cloud cart. I will also need to coat the whole thing in some sort of sealer...but for now...this is basically how this piece will look. Oh, and I have the piece of repurposed leather reins (or something -- not sure exactly what it is) from my niece's horse stuff and a handle to use as the pull part. Whew.

And I really, really, really DO hate to paint.

The title of this piece is now "Chime Cat Visits Cloud City".

And now, back to finishing the Tookies!

KT Goodlove # 146

"wait -- what???"

Tennis balls, a bird, a cat jumping at the bird and balls, and she's on the phone. So distracting.

This is block #146 in the Kettle and Took collaboration series KTGoodlove for
Art-o-mat®.

KT Goodlove # 142

"dare to be one of us"

I got that phrase from "Australia" by The Shins.

Now see...this is another one of those funny coincidences. I have never been able to make out all of the lyrics to this song and I thought well, why don't I read the lyrics while I listen to the song while I post this block. It kinda fits (in parts, anyway...LOL).

This is another block that I originally scanned as vertical, but turned out horizontal.

KT Goodlove #100 !!!

"you ask a lot of questions"

Whew! We did it -- Kettle and I have made 100 painting/collage collaboration blocks for
Art-o-mat®.

Now I need to affix the labels to the blocks and put the cellophane around them and ship them off to Artists in Cellophane.

Look for them soon in an Art-o-mat® machine near you!

Request KT Goodlove, even!

(That'd be waaaaay cool!)

UPDATE: KT Goodlove has been added to the artists page at the Art-o-mat
® website. Click on our name and see an example of the series.

Day Two Hundred Twenty-Six (KTG #58)

Wow -- I really like this one a whole lot. It took a long time to match a head and body that would fit on that lower edge, but it was worth it!

The conversation tidbit comes from Zooey Deschanel on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

This is also another block with the background color that confuses my scanner and camera. The scanner records the images most accurately, and the camera tries to show the correct color in the smaller out-of-focus pic.

Day Two Hundred Twenty (KTG #53)

I don't write the rules I just follow them.

The background color of this block is pretty cool. In some light, it is very yellow...in some light it is a bit green/chartreuse. I like it. A lot.

This is another one of those "I don't know who is making the statement" collages. Really, it could be the rabbit or the cat girl. I like that, too. A lot.

Day Two Hundred Nineteen (KTG #52)

Yep...those guitar players get all the girls!

I like that I was able to find a head with some light on it to go with the light on the guitarist's shirt. I also like the way the pinks and grays and whites play off each other. (Sorry it doesn't show up too well in the pics.)

Note Dept: The first scan in today's post shows the images clearly but color/shade of pink is waaaay off. I tried to capture it in this tweaked color chip photo...it's closer but not exact.

Rant Dept: There is something about a couple of colors (some pinks, some yellows) that really confuses my scanner and my camera. No amount of my feeble adjustments to settings or even taking the block out into daylight will correct it. Admittedly, I am absolutely not techno-savvy and not at all motivated and/or capable of getting involved in classes or instruction manuals to actually learn how to understand any of this stuff. You know how some people are just "born to do something" and others have other strengths? Well, I have other strengths.

Day Two Hundred Eighteen

Today begins the second set of 50 blocks of the collaboration series for Art-o-mat® entitled "KT Goodlove".

In case you've forgotten (or you are new to my blog), Kettle paints on the MDF blocks and then sends them to me for me to fit my collages around his paintings.

I like how the cat girl is just going on with her lipstick demo and is ignoring the ghostly rabbit (even though he clearly has substance because his ear is in front of that large tube.)

I don't know what I'm saying and neither do you.

Ha ha...need more proof?

Day One Hundred Eighty-Six

There is something very telltale in these last sentences.

Hmmm...wonder what it could be?

Day One Hundred Seventy-Seven

Here is a bit of dressage imagery for today...minus the cat girl's hat...perhaps that is why they placed second.

I can never get hats to work with animal ears.

Day One Hundred Seventy-Five

Cat, cat girl, cocoa, chocolate, cups...what else could "C" stand for in this collage?

Day One Hundred Seventy-Three

Okay...confession time. I'm not sure why, but I am totally wiped out today. I have been fighting falling asleep all day long. I kept thinking I was going to be able to make something today, but I am just plain too sleepy.

This is a block I made a couple of years ago...but at least I'm not trying to pass it off as one I made today. It was a collage that I made for
my Art-o-mat® series called "Animal People".

I would rather post this today than miss another deadline.

Day One Hundred Seventy-Two

I like those flowers. Puts me in mind of British Invasion music...Dusty Springfield, Manfred Mann, Sandie Shaw, Kinks, Gerry & the Pacemakers...I love that stuff!

This is another collage for my Art-o-mat® series called "Animal People".

Edit: I just noticed this when I posted the block..."accents" fits, too! Ha...I amuse myself. Totally unintentional.

posting of Day One Hundred Sixty

I have never really tried to construct an entire room in one of these Animal People collages...it was amusing to do. All of the elements came from the same magazine, but from different pages.

Day One Hundred Forty-Four

Dear oh deary me. I truly don't understand why my scanner has trouble "reading" some of the colors on these little colored pencil drawings.

I will photograph this tomorrow and see if that will show that the background of this one is yellow and the glow is pink. The crown is orange and the jewels are magenta, outlined in very dark purple. It is also a little hard to see the tabby-ish markings on the cat.

Ah well.

This tiny portrait is for my series "Penciled In" for Art-o-mat®.

Update: See? The background is yellow.
