2015 | Day 105 (part two)

Day One Hundred Five (part two)

Wow -- three full hours later and the plaster cloth rabbit guy has pants...blue banana tissue paper jeans.  I am SO done for today -- I never ever should have worked that long...but the deadline is looming...I'm so far behind...but now I am already starting to pay for it...yow!

I won't be showing any more progress on this guy until after the juror's results are in -- providing, of course, that I end up submitting him for consideration.

2015 | Day 103

Day One Hundred Three

Oh, it is disappointing...but it's not the end of the world...you know?  I don't think I will be done with the plaster cloth rabbit guy in time for the submission deadline.  The guy with the really long horns is nearly done, though, and I guess that is at least something.  I have to quit beating myself up over not healing more quickly from the accident...everything just has to take as much time as it needs...that's all there is to it.

Today I finished the first layer of very pale blue paper on the rabbit guy's head and hands.  I think it will take at least another layer to give it enough color, but I want it to stay pale blue.

The really long horns guy needs some sort of embellishment around his eyes and nose.  I am still working out what to do with him.

2015 | Day 102

Day One Hundred Two

Tsk, tsk...so many missing days in this year's blog.  I hope to get back to daily blogging eventually, but for now I am happy with whatever I can manage.

Today was about buckling down and choosing a main color for the plaster cloth rabbit guy.  IF I get him done in time (enough for photos, at least) before the deadline I will submit him for consideration in an upcoming show.  Fingers crossed...stupid car accident...oh well...if it happens in time, it happens.

I narrowed my choices down to four colors and then agonized over them and finally chose one.

The four color choices were pale pink, pale yellow, peach, and very pale blue.
It got down to pale yellow or very pale blue...and very pale blue wins.
I still have no idea whatsoever for how I will finish the rest of him...hopefully my Universal Collaborators will show up sometime during the application of the body papering.

2015 | Day 10

Day Ten

Today I watched a bunch of tutorial videos on YouTube about dry brushing.  They were pretty much the same, with just a few variations, but it gave me a better idea of how to get started.  So I gave the really long horns guy a base coat of mid range quality black acrylic paint (because I didn't want to blast through a tube of better acrylic paint.  It is going to need a second coat because the first coat was going on over the matte medium coated decorative paper that covered this guy.  His horns took the paint better probably because they'd already had a half coat of dry brushing with good paint.

Later on before I go to bed for the night I will give him a second coat.

I was also giving some thought to the plaster cloth rabbit guy.  I made him a paper mock up of a sort of top hat and also a plastic sheet protector monocle...just to see how it might look.  This is just a really rough idea...kinda like the monocle -- not so sure about a top hat...yet.

2015 | Day 7

Day Seven

I have spent most of the late afternoon and all evening with the plaster cloth rabbit guy and the really long horns guy.  I have come to the decision to not rush either one of them...I cannot finish them in time for what I had in mind.  I will keep working on them and work towards a deadline in June sometime.  I might enter a couple of collages instead -- still on the fence about it.  I am happy with my decision(s) -- not let down or upset with myself.  I want to do a good job on both of them and there just isn't enough time for this particular upcoming deadline.

This guy needs a lot more work -- I was kidding myself that he is "almost done".  He has a lot of areas that need reinforcing and I still have no solid clue about his outfit.

I love this guy so much.  I spent so much time with him today and I still have no idea of his color scheme.  I need to experiment more with his horns, too...I want him to turn out really well.
