2012/365 - Day 232

working on Penciled In

Today I am working on Tookies, but I am also finishing up stuff on the Penciled In edition that William Hessian and I collaborated on.  I know Art-o-mat needs art so I am intending on shipping this series sometime this week.

I just gave the tiny colored pencil portraits a couple of coats of matte finish to protect the drawings.

I need to work on the "paperwork" now...the information insert, the end labels for the boxes, the main label for the boxes...that kind of stuff.

William and I are doing 100 Penciled In pieces, in two editions.  This one is Late Summer 2012.  He has the other 50 pieces with him in Maine (I think).  Hopefully he will have these completed and ready for me to finish up my parts when he comes back to Michigan in December on his way back to Minnesota.

I am uploading the Late Summer 2012 scans to the Penciled In blogI might have to this gradually...I can't remember what the daily posting limit is...maybe they have done away with it.  At this writing I have 20 pieces upoladed to the blog so far.   Okay -- back to work!

The Wondrous William Hessian

His students call him Mr. Billy. His friends and family back home call him Billy. For work and business relationships he is called William. Friends in states other than Minnesota call him Will. This incredibly creative and energetic artist has as at least as many names as he has projects going at any one minute.

I first became aware of
William Hessian through his "Bearded Bunny" series for Art-o-mat. Click here for a sort of intro/update about this series. And here, too.

Then I found his Bearded Bunny Blog. (Do yourself a favor -- subscribe/follow/bookmark this blog. You will not believe all of the imaginative and incredible projects William has created.)

Then I heard about his
Miniature Art Hunts.

Then I found his Etsy store and was able to pick up a number of his delightful "Chubby Creatures"

and a few of his small ceramic sculptures.

Briefly, William Hessian is a visual artist, performance artist, writer, illustrator and teacher currently living in Maine. There is just SO much to say about Mr. Billy -- but I am sure that you would have a better time exploring the links and finding even more of his projects for yourself -- kind of like going on one of his art hunts.

I am not sure exactly what we are going to do, but I am thrilled to say that Billy and I will be doing a collaboration! Stay tuned to both of our blogs.

Wow...a month has gone by already!

I am amazed at how easily working on this blog has become part of my daily "routine".

It is really helping to keep me focused on making little pieces of art everyday. It is helping to build up my pieces to send to Artists in Cellophane to rebuild my stash there. It is also helping me to turn off the tv and DO something...LOL.

The only thing I still have a slight dread of is the writing part. A lot of the time I just don't know what to say about something and it is still a bit intimidating knowing that there are people who are reading what I've written. I am slowly getting over it, though.

Yep...one month down, twelve to go. Here is a look at Elin Waterston's completed project. Elin's incredible blog was the inspiration for me to do this blog.

Oh...as a follow up to yesterday's block...it did help me to cool out yesterday night at the Detroit Derby Girls bout...everytime there was mad rush of people at Will Call, I'd think of that hippie lioness chick and say "cool" and re-focus. Silly...but it worked!
