2012/365 - Day 295

closing reception for collage show

Today we piled in the car and made a road trip to the closing reception/awards (and art pick up) of the Collage, Assemblage & Construction Exhibition at LowellArts! in Lowell, MI.  The juror for the show was Patti Sevensma

Alphabetically, today's group was: Carla, Joan, Peggy, Ruth and me -- we had such a great time!

Here are some photos from the event:

There was a really great turn out for the closing reception.

Giving out the awards

I received an honorable mention for my collage "Time for a Nap".

There is my collage and below it is a fantastic piece by Annette Smith.

Ann (as her name tag read) also received an honorable mention for her piece.

It turns out that Joan and Carla already knew of Ann and that Ann has shown at the Northville Art House in the past.  AND Ann is from (nearby) Plymouth -- and is maybe interested in joining us for art stuff...like maybe 2nd Thursday.  (We had to assure Ann that we are indeed trouble.)

Baby Beast was also in the show -- I am very happy to be bringing him back home!

After the awards juror Patti Sevensma did a walk and talk around the gallery and some of the artists also spoke about their work.

Artist Ruth Egnater talks about her collage(s).

If I had been able to purchase a piece from the show, it would have been this collage by Ruth.

This was towards the end of the walk and talk.

It was a really good show and I got to talk with several artists and also Patti Sevensma.

After we retrieved our art and packed ourselves back into Peggy's car and went into town to have a late lunch/early dinner at Flat River Grill.  The food was delicious and our server Brent was wonderful (and patient).  Then it was back into the car for the two hour ride home.

Good art, good friends, good time!
