It started out as a dark and rainy morning this morning...the kind of day I LOVE because it makes me want to make art. That is what it was like when I was making this girl. I even got inspired to try taking the yarn all the way up the ear as far as I could go.
This afternoon it turned sunny and this puppet wanted to go outside for her photograph. It was too breezy for all of the tall spiky flower shots, they kept swaying and getting blurry. Puppety decided to play "look how tall I am" instead. (as in she is looking down at me)

YAY -- I couldn't make it to the East Coast Extravaganza (ECE) this year, but Derby News Network is carrying a LIVE feed!!!
Detroit Derby Girls' Travel Team plays on Saturday @ 6:30pm against Charm City...and again on Sunday @ 6:30 against Carolina.
Go to the link, scroll down to our bout, click and there is a conversation going on...click on the WATCH LIVE (right underneath the title in red) and a little video window will open up. Click on the little box in the right corner to view full screen.
Okay...confession time. I'm not sure why, but I am totally wiped out today. I have been fighting falling asleep all day long. I kept thinking I was going to be able to make something today, but I am just plain too sleepy.
This is a block I made a couple of years ago...but at least I'm not trying to pass it off as one I made today. It was a collage that I made for my Art-o-mat® series called "Animal People".
I would rather post this today than miss another deadline.
I like those flowers. Puts me in mind of British Invasion music...Dusty Springfield, Manfred Mann, Sandie Shaw, Kinks, Gerry & the Pacemakers...I love that stuff!

Edit: I just noticed this when I posted the block..."accents" fits, too! Ha...I amuse myself. Totally unintentional.
Finally! I finished up my "Penciled In" series for Art-o-mat® and the set of 50 colored pencil drawings is ready to be shipped off to Artists in Cellophane on Monday -- yay!
I haven't made a puppet with a simple "x" pattern edge in a long time. I think I am getting the hang of it now...the "x's" are pretty evenly spaced and roughly the same size. I am pleased with them. This is colorful girly girl is a finger puppet for my Art-o-mat® series "All Ears".
I have never really tried to construct an entire room in one of these Animal People collages...it was amusing to do. All of the elements came from the same magazine, but from different pages.

Sorry for having to play catch up with these posts...I feel kinda cheezy and like "the dog ate my homework"...but my computer really really was out of commission.
I like this stripey guy and the tufts on his ears. He is trying to get chummy with the queen switchplate...don't know if she is gonna buy what he is selling.

Oh man...there is just too must to do still. This is kinda sorta cheaty, but it is for Art-o-mat® in a round about way, so I am counting it as my post for the day.
Tomorrow is the 2nd Anniversary of Detroit Comics, where one of my Art-o-mat® machines is. (You may recall I host the two Michigan machines.) And you may also recall that Kettle and I have done a collaboration series for Art-o-mat® called "KT Goodlove".
Well, Detroit Comics is throwing a 2nd Anniversary Party tomorrow and I will have an Art-o-mat® table there. As a way to celebrate the anniversary of Detroit Comics -- and -- to celebrate the launch of "KT Goodlove", Kettle and I have collaborated on 2 larger pieces to be given away as prizes. Kettle also graciously gave me some more artwork to be given away at the party. Really cool stuff. Here are pictures of the two collaborations Kettle and I did. The longer one is on a plank of pine that I sanded smooth and put my collage pieces on...Kettle painted his parts and sent it back to me. The size of this piece is approximately 5 1/2" x 16"... much larger than I am used to working.
The round one is a 45 rpm record that Kettle painted on the bottom half. I added the red paper on the top and the collage elements. The girl is saying "smooth".
