I wanted to let you know that I am the proud owner of this wonderful little piece of art as of today. I went to the Chandler Center for the Arts in Chandler, AZ to attend a one day Microsoft technology conference and there was an Art-O-Mat in the lobby.
When I paid attention enough to realize what it was and thought it was the coolest concept ever I fed it $5 and pulled the Animal People knob. I was extremely happy with the result. It is quirky, absurd, and very awesome. I love it! I posted about it with some pics here: http://friendfeed.com/bluecockatoo/6a6ce651/art-vending-machine-how-cool-is-that-old
An hour later I came back and got another one. This time a rabbit man with Gerbera daisies in the background, quite appropriate for Easter weekend.
I am just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my purchase and that I have spent a good bit of time browsing your blog until I found my piece. I also am trying to think of something I could do with my artistic skills to participate because the whole concept of the Art-o-Mat is fascinating!
I love hearing about who has my Arto-art and what machine it came from.
I am also very excited to hear that you are pleased and also thinking of how you could participate in Art-o-mat! Please let me know when your series is available -- I host two machines in the Detroit area.
awesome! i love that she went back to get another one. and you converted from never hearing of art-o-mat to a collector, to possibly an artist in cellophane herself.
Hi again! I realized AFTER I clocked the button to post that my husband was logged in to his gmail account on my iPad... So this is Lindsay, not Tad :)
I think I have an idea what I might like to do for an Art-o-Mat series now. I need to order the sample kit to see if I can make a prototype or two. Unfortunately I have a project for work that will keep me busy till the middle of May but maybe I can get prototypes to the A.I.C. folks for consideration by then. I am excited at the possibilities.
We need more Art-o-Mats in the Phoenix area... There is a art district in downtown Scottsdale that would be a good area for one, and the Phoenix Art Museum might be another good candidate. It is such a cool concept!
Anyway, thanks again for the inspiration. :). If I get a series approved I will be sure to let you know.
