Day Three Hundred Sixty-One

Today I was at The Woods Gallery with Lisa and Terri, helping with intake for A Group of Girls 2 and then Terri and I stayed and assisted while Lisa hung the show. Here are a few of the photos I took.

I was the first to arrive so I set up a table and chairs for intake.

365/2013 - Day 300

more art intake and art pick up and 2 more Tooklets

Wow -- Day 300...there seemed to be an issue with the Blogger editor for a while...I was worried I wouldn't be able to post before my midnight deadline...whew!

So today was Day Two of artists picking up their work from the "Under the (Inspired) Influence" show at the Northville Art House.  It was also Day Two of artists bringing in their work for "[small] Works Exhibit".  Only a couple of loose ends to pull together -- we are hanging the show on Wednesday.

Tonight I also brought home the two Kate Paul paintings I loaned to "Influence" from my collection -- the walls have been very empty without them.  Sue is coming over on Thursday and she can probably help me get them back on the wall.  I brought home the Anita Andersons collage I purchased from the show tonight, too...AND the artwork of Anita and Juana.  It is all safely stashed in Studio B.

SO glad I found this bin in my basement this morning -- it is the perfect size for Anita's assemblage!

The delightfully colorful Leann picked up her art tonight...that is one of Renee's Vulture Women just behind Leann.

365/2013 -- Day 154

day two of art intake

All I have to report for today is I helped Joanne Bandoni for a couple of hours during the second day of art intake for West of Center.  Joanne is the curator/producer of this exciting show.

I really love doing intake at the Northville Art House -- you get to see the artwork early, but you also get to meet the artists!  And quite often, you actually already know some of them.  And it is even cooler when an artist doesn't know ahead of time that their artwork is on the postcard for the show...today Kate wasn't aware her painting was one of the three images chosen for this year's promo postcard...she was very happy.  

That is Kate's painting "Ruin Reverberant" on the lower right.  (My friend Peggy Kerwan's painting "Hidden Secrets" is on the left and "Hudson Hurricane" by Kurt Menhart is in the middle top.)

This is going to be one GREAT exhibition!!!  The show opens on Friday, June 7 from 6-9 p.m. and is free to the public (as always).  (Click the link below for the Northville Art House's Facebook page.)

365/2013 - Day 153

alcohol inks and metal boxes

Today I tried out some alcohol inks with metal boxes, as well as some hand carved stamps and an ink pad meant for stamping on metal.  What I got was basically a big  mess...but maybe some potential.

And from 4-6:15 I helped curator/producer Joanne Bandoni (and her husband Kurt) with intake for the West of Center show that opens on Friday at the Northville Art House.  I love working intake for shows.

"Quillz" in a temporary spot on one of the pedestals...Juana's "Spirit of Bad Dolls" still in its box, delivery safely and in one piece.  Joanne is hanging the show later this week.

2012/365 - Day 303

gah!  I can't believe I did that!

I missed my midnight posting deadline by ONE minute -- I think I must have dozed off at the keyboard.  I came back into the studio to blog and the next thing I knew I saw that it was 12:01.

Dayum!  

Anyway...

Today I worked at the Northville Art House doing day one of intake for the upcoming Small Works All-Media Juried Art Exhibit.  I shared the gallery space with Jeff Cancelosi who was there to greet his artists who were picking up the pieces they made for the show that Jeff curated last month called Vote for Me! -- Artists Respond to the Presidential Election of 2012.

During some of my slower times towards the end of the day (while Jeff's activities were picking up) I was able to work on making more of the spikes I need for my Holly Dolly.  I forgot to take the photo at my intake station, but here they are (back in the studio).

I am getting a good little stockpile going!

This is the postcard for the three events that will be taking place during the Northville Art House's holiday shopping season --  I will blog more about them towards the end of the week.  I am excited about the changes this year -- I think they will be really really great!
