2015 | Day 47

Day Forty-Seven

Well, that was disappointing.  I went to grab my bag of torn up blue Unryu paper to work on Wolfy but darn it -- I must have used the end of it.  I can't find it in any of my paper spots...I found all of the other sorted bags of torn paper...even the very end of the blue marbled paper...but none of the dark blue.  Then I found a tiny scrap of it along with a couple of other remnants of blue papers.  I need to make a run to Hollander's in Ann Arbor.  I love going there but it takes so much restraint not to leave with a couple hundred buck's worth of incredible papers.

This small strip is all I have left of the dark blue Unryu paper that I used for Wolfy.
And I thought I might be able to use a small amount of this paper for highlights or something but it is just too light.

Specifically, I am after Unryu papers.  I seem to use them the most.   Oh well...so much for getting back to work on Wolfy tonight.  Hopefully I can get to Hollander's in a few days.

Day One Hundred Thirty-One

Well, this is something I never expected to see -- a yellow version of my Wolfy character.

I know it doesn't look like it in this scan, but he is quite yellow.

I will take a photo tomorrow. It is too dark outside right now.

This tiny portrait is for my series "Penciled In" for Art-o-mat®.

UPDATE: Here is the photo from today. It still isn't "reading" as yellow as it actually is.

Day One Hundred Thirteen

"Penciled In" is my series for Art-o-mat® of small portraits done in colored pencil on MDF, with a handmade twisty wire hanger on the back.

This is one of my characters who first appeared on a ceramic tile. This is Wolfy...in blue(s) this time.

Some colors seem to "fit" some characters better than others. I first made Wolfy green. I've made some blue versions and a red version and I think I made an orange one. I like the green ones and blue ones the best.

Day Thirty-Five

I thought of a name for this series. I am calling it "Penciled In" because the little portraits done in Prismacolor pencils.

Here is Wolfy drinking coffee. Green Wolfy, orange background. The original Wolfy is green and was first done on a ceramic tile. This is close to the original Wolfy, but I've never been able to get him exactly "right" since the first time.

(I tried dulling down the color on the scanner, but the background is still a bit punched up...slightly more intense than the actual block. Wolfy's color and the mug are about right, though.)

Oh...this reminds me, too...I keep meaning to go see Underworld, Rise of the Lycans. Maybe tomorrow!
