Lift has a wide selection of urban vinyl, plush, blind boxed and designer toys. They also feature the phenomenal work of local artists too numerous to mention individually.
Here is Kent, one of the owners of LIFT in the mirror of my Art-o-mat machine...this machine lives at LIFT.
This is bubble tea.
Bubble tea originated overseas in Taiwan and has only recent migrated to North America within the last 10 years or so. You can now find places serving bubble tea in most major cities, such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, New York and Toronto.
Hatch Detroit is giving away $50,000 in cash, and a suite of business services to the winner of their inagaural contest. (click the logo to learn more)
LIFT made it to the top ten ideas in Stage One and needs your votes! You don't have to live in Michigan to vote and there is nothing to do but click and vote. You don't have to register or fill out any forms...just vote once a day EVERY day until Oct. 14.
Here is LIFT's idea:
"Our concept is to create a fun & vibrant space in midtown Detroit with a bubble tea cafe, lounge area and retail space.
Our cafe will offer bubble teas (with boba of course!), smoothies, Asian snacks & more. Guests are invited to kick back and relax, work, or study in our lounge area with free Wi-Fi.
Our retail area would carry the latest designer toys in addition to apparel from Detroit Manufacturing, anime, art books & magazines, unique handmade items and limited edition prints.
Bubble Love would also host rotating exhibits focusing on up-and-coming pop surreal and lowbrow artists."
I think that all of the ideas in the Stage One are great ideas...I really do. However, I think that Bubble Love would truly bring some new and fresh F*U*N to Midtown Detroit. Visit the Bubble Love website, join their fan page on Facebook, show some love and support for a truly one-of-a-kind space!
